The Centre for Pre-degree and Remedial Studies was established in 2010 for two major objectives:
- To contribute to the Community development by way of retraining candidates who have one type of deficiency or another which prevent them from getting admission in to the University.
- The Centre was established to serve as a revenue generating programme for the development of the University.
The Centre has two Units, Pre-degree Unit and Remedial Unit. As for the Pre-Degree Programme which is for a duration of one year, is designed to prepare candidates for a four year degree programme in any of the Colleges of the Kwara State University.
The programme is designed to prepare interested candidates for the JAMB examinations and keep them academically busy and alert during the year, while expecting JAMB result and some other results they may need in the National Examinations. It is part of the community services rendered by the university to involve all school leavers in the pursuit of higher education.
The Remedial Programme intensively prepares students with deficiencies in School Certificate and JAMB Results for the duration of one school calendar year. Such students will be considered for admission into a four year degree programme after taking the UTME and having met all necessary requirements.
