Internal and External Search Advertisement for Director, Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Research
Kwara State University (KWASU), the University for Community Development, founded in 2009, located in Malete, Kwara State, Nigeria, and ambitious to become a world class university, is seeking a Director for its Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR). The mission of the CITR is to help faculty and students utilize the most appropriate and up-to-date teaching and research methods and, where appropriate, to support technology in and outside of the classroom to enhance the learning experience of KWASU students and the instructional experience of KWASU faculty. The new Director will have the opportunity to shape the Centre's organization, direction and focus.
The CITR will engage in, but not be necessarily limited to, the following activities in support of teaching and research innovation:
1. Researching the literature and writing background papers in support of specific initiatives;
2. Developing grants to support innovative curriculum and research initiatives;
3. Organizing workshops on innovative initiatives;
4. Giving logistical and administrative support for faculty committees formed to investigate specific innovations;
5. Providing follow-up evaluations for new initiatives.
The position requires at minimum a Masters Degree, but a Doctorate is preferred, and at least three years experience on curriculum development, including the utilization of classroom support software and systems. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of effective pedagogy in higher education, experience with computer-based curriculum content, the demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and faculty, the leadership ability to articulate a vision for effective learning, and the organizational skills to offer support for improved teaching and research methods through workshops, seminars and research support. Preference will be given to candidates who wish to take up an academic position in an academic department, but this is not a requirement. Salary and benefits will be based on the candidates experience and the personnel policies of Nigerian Federal Government.
