Abubakar is new Dean, Student Affairs

Dr. Ibrahim Laro Abubakar of the Department of Human Kinetic, Health Education and Sports Management, Kwara State University, has been appointed Acting Dean, Student Affairs of the University.

Effective January 2, 2018, Abubakar’s appointment followed the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah.

A letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Surajudeen Oyebode, stated that the appointment was in recognition of the appointee’s exemplary leadership qualities and wealth of experience.

Abubakar, who had his NCE in Ilorin; B.Sc., University of Maiduguri; and Ph.D. at University of Ibadan, once lectured at Kwara State College of Education, Oro (1990 - 1998) before transferring his service to Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin as the pioneer Academic Principal and School Manager, College of Education Model Secondary School, Ilorin (1998 - 2006).

He was afterwards transferred to the Department of Physical and Health Education in the College after his Doctoral degree during which he served on different committees, including  Junior Staff Establishment Committee, Curriculum Transformation Committee, and Chairman/Director of the College Sports Committee.

He joined the services of KWASU in 2012 and has served and is still serving in different capacities. He is currently the Head, Department of Human Kinetic, Health Education and Sports Management, KWASU.

Dr. Ibrahim Laro Abubakar is married and blessed with children.
