Gulvanise to solve Nigeria’s Developmental Challenges: KWASU Charges Youths

The Office of the Resident Life  Fellowship Programme (RLFP) Kwara State University, Malete ,as part of its mandate organized a  3 – day event tagged the KWASU 2018 SDGs Event aimed at fostering the attainment of the United Nations’ (UN) global goals at the academia and grassroots.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) include fight against poverty, hunger, right to good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure as well as reduced inequalities.

Others are sustainable cities and communities responsible consumption and production, climate action ,life below water, life and land, peace, justice and strong institutions, partnership for the goals as well as sustainable development goals.

The event which started with an awareness rally  featured a walk for community development, peace and awareness talk all aimed at sensitizing the surrounding communities, as well as students on the SDG goals.

According to the Coordinator of the Resident Life Program, Isreal Ajuwon ,the event which has a theme ‘’The role of the youth in countering violent extremism and promoting peace , aims at fostering the attainment  of the United Nations’ global goals at the academia and grass root.

Receiving the team on campus, the Vice –Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah stressed the need for Nigerian youths to galvanise and develop traits, ideas, vision and qualities to solve Nigeria’s developmental challenges.

 Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah emphasised the need for global peace and identified youths as strategic to achieving this.

The Resident Life Programme is a programme aimed at extending the classroom into students’ hall of residence and complements the University’s academic curriculum with creative ideas, activities and programmes essential to students’ preparation for a life of leadership, intellectual commitment and community engagement.
