Motivated by the remarkable achievements of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, authorities of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) University, Lapai, have adopted KWASU as a reference point in their strive for academic stability and progress.
It was on the heels of this that a team, under the aegis of Council Ad hoc Committee on Benchmarking of State Universities in the North Central Zone, Nigeria, was led on a fact-finding mission to KWASU by its Chairman, Dr. Elisha G. Kutara.
Other members of the team were Alhaji M.A Abdullahi, the University Registrar; Professor M. T Mustapha, Director, Quality Assurance; and the Secretary, Alhaji Baba Akote, who doubles as the Deputy Registrar of the Institution.
After an extensive meeting with the KWASU management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulRasheedNa’Allah, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, the committee also had a similar session with the University union leaders on Thursday.
Aside the Vice-Chancellor, the management meeting had in attendance the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Sakah Mahmud; his Academic counterpart, Professor SulaimanJamiu; the Registrar, Mr. SurajudeenOyebode; the Bursar, Mallam Mohammed Ndache; and Chairman, Think-Tank, Dr. Henry Sawyerr, among others.
The KWASU unions were jointly represented by the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. IssaAbdulRaheem; Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Mrs. Mariam Ahmed; Chairman, Non Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (NASU), Mr. Saka Imam; and Chairman, National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), HazeezLukman, among other union leaders.
