The graduate of the programme should appreciate that there is dignity in labour through competence in conception planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of various Tourism and Hospitality programmes and enterprises. The graduate should be able to adapt to the socioeconomic and cultural situations of rural setting and integrate with rural dwellers and maintain the ethical standards of the profession.

Research activities in the department are in the areas of tourism, hospitality and related industries.

Academic Code of Conduct

The approved code of conduct by the senate of Kwara State University is expected to be obeyed by all students of the department. The code shall be amended only by the senate of the university from time to time as the need arises.

The philosophy of the programme

The Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management is a 4- year degree programme designed to prepare the students with the necessary pre-requisite education and leadership dexterity aimed at equipping them to face tomorrow's challenges within the Tourism and Hospitality environment. Secondly, to produce graduates who are expected to be pace-setters in up-grading and redefining Tourism and Hospitality Industry Management locally and globally.

Programme Logistics

The teaching is enhanced by practical components which will expose the students to latest technology and state of the art facilities and development in Tourism and Hospitality Management. The programme also strives to facilitate students learning through movements away from classroom teaching to benefit through different excursions, field trips and Laboratory demonstrations. This requires financial contribution from the students regarding provision of clothing (uniforms for practical demonstrations) and basic hand equipment (hand tools, camping gears etc) as well as INTERNATIONAL TOURS.
