KWASU VC Reaffirms Commitment to Partnering With Labour Unions
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has restated the institution’s readiness to collaborate more closely with labour unions to drive growth and excellence at the University.
Speaking at the biennial seminar and workshop of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), KWASU Branch, held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olubukola Dada emphasised the importance of continuous staff training, noting that a well-trained workforce is essential to the smooth running of any university.
The Director of the Centre for Research and Development, Professor Abdulkabir Solihu, represented by Dr. Wasiu Awoyale called for stronger synergy between technologists and academics. He stressed that technologists should be involved from the conceptual stage of research proposals to enhance research outcomes.
Delivering the keynote address, Director of Academic Planning, Professor Emmanuel Oladipo Ajani, highlighted the importance of well-designed capacity-building programmes for improving both organisational and individual performance. He encouraged participants to take advantage of affordable online training opportunities, noting that financial constraints and bureaucratic hurdles often delay institution-sponsored training.
The chairman of NAAT, KWASU Branch, Comrade Lukman Ajibade Azeez, said the workshop theme, “Leveraging Capacity Building for Sustainable Institutional Development,” captures the university’s current focus on staff development as a driver of institutional progress.
The workshop brought together academic technologists, university administrators, and other stakeholders committed to strengthening KWASU’s capacity for sustainable development.
