Welcome Note
I wish to welcome the staff, students, and the general public to the website of the Admissions Office. I warmly welcome you on board as you navigate through to get to know the functions and workings of the office.
Brief History the Admission Office
The admission office was established in the year 2010 immediately after the establishment of Kwara State University in 2009 following the need to start to admit students into various programmes of the University.
Mision and Vision
The Admission Office and by extension, the University strives to locate, attract, and admit qualified students, who desire to receive quality university education. Our mission is to train students to become global citizens that can compete favourably with their peers in any part of the World.
Programmes/ Activities
Admission is done yearly to admit students into various programmmes in the University. After the University Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations (UTME) by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the University through the Admission Office begins the process of admission for the year. The University decides the Institutional CUT OFF mark for the year and transmits it to JAMB for consideration before the commencement of the year’s admission exercise. This is followed by the determination of the CUT OFF MARKS for each programme by the Admission Committee and thereafter ratified by the University Senate. Advertisement for Post UTME screening exercise is then placed on the University portal for applicants. Recommendation of candidates for admission commences immediately after the expiration of the deadline for post-UTME registration. After the recommendation for admission has been made on the KWASU portal, candidates are directed to pay acceptance fees after which they are captured on the JAMB CAPS to enable them to access their admissions and print the admission letters from JAMB.
Achievements/Milestones/Plan
The University has through the Admission Office, achieved excellent and seamless admission of candidates into various programmes every year. Given the seamless admission processes recorded, the University has achieved a yearly increase in the admission quota approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The University which started with a 500 admission quota can as of today boast of Ten thousand Five Hundred and Forty –Eight (10, 4548) admission quota. This number is also expected to increase with the accreditation of new programmes.
