Brief History of the Faculty

The present Faculty of Agriculture (initially the College of Agriculture) is as old as the University, established as one of the foundation Colleges in November 2009. It started with 7 academic staff and 16 students, led by Prof. Funsho Oluleye as Pioneer Provost, with three departments: Agricultural Economics & Extension Services, Animal Production, and Crop Production.

In 2020, KWASU adopted a faculty management system across the University, replacing the previous collegiate system. Former Provosts include Prof. Funsho Oluleye, Prof. Olawale Moshood Aliyu, and Prof. Stephen Kayode Subair (now Dean). The Department of Food Science and Technology began in the College of Engineering and Technology (as part of Food, Agriculture and Bioengineering, 2011) and later moved to Agriculture.

Mission / Vision

Vision: To produce competent middle and high‑level manpower who become job creators by establishing agricultural enterprises nationwide, and who are available for teaching, research, and technology development in higher institutions in Nigeria and beyond—aligning with KWASU’s goal of being a World‑Class University.

Welcome Note

“Welcome to the Faculty of Agriculture, KWASU, Malete. We run a broad‑based B. Agric programme with final‑year specializations (Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Crop Production, Crop Protection, Animal Production) and the B.Sc. in Food Science & Technology. Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are fully accredited by the NUC. We host a Teaching & Research Farm (~100 hectares) serving as a field laboratory, and collaborate with LRNBDA, ARMTI, NCAM, IITA, and the Ministry of Agriculture.”
