Welcome Note

Welcome to KWASU Press and Publishing, the in-house Unit responsible for printing, publishing, and related activities in academia, creative, professional, and general subjects. The Unit provides general printing, printmaking, publishing, marketing, and distribution services.

The Kwara State University Press and Publishing has been in existence since the inception of KWASU. In 2020, it was upgraded to both a Publishing House and a commercial printing Centre. The office is headed by a Director, with an academic staff as Deputy Director (Publishing). The Unit assists scholars with the publication of academic and non-academic books, intellectual works, and other related materials.

Mission

The KWASU Press and Publishing is committed to publishing quality academic and non-academic books, textbooks, and journals. The Press aims to promote literary culture through publications, promotion, and creative writing competitions. Other activities include preparation, editing, typesetting, and proofing of publications.

Programmes and Activities

Book and journal publishing, binding, publication management, production of printed materials, typesetting, proofing, and editorial management. The Unit also manages the University logo, funding publication materials, and editing.

Achievements / Plans

  1. Publication of “AL-Kamaliyat” by Abdullahi Jibreel Sulyman Al-Fulani Al-Adabi.
  2. Review of the book, “Ilorin, the journey so far” by Alhaji L.A.K. Jimoh.
  3. Production of customized ID card lanyards for KWASU staff and students.
  4. Production of stationeries for all University offices.
  5. Securing TETFUND intervention for journals and manuscripts through Mcpat.
  6. Production of several lectures and journals.
  7. Publication of a book in honour of Professor Kenneth Sola Adeyemi and the first Malete Journal of Accounting and Finance.
  8. Publication of University programmes.
  9. Binding of final-year students’ projects (2019/2020 to date).
  10. Branding of materials including signposts.
  11. Production of KWASU School Calendars and Magazines.
  12. Production of manuals, logbooks, and other departmental publications.
  13. Publication of the KWASU GNS textbook (Use of English) new edition.
  14. Production of stamps for various offices.
  15. Publication of Journals, Order of Proceedings, Matriculation Oaths, etc.
  16. Production of examination answer scripts.
  17. Production of posters and flyers for various Centres and Units.

In the pipeline: books on history, law, taxation, journals for departments, and literature texts for junior secondary students. The Unit is also working towards acquiring printing machines to expand revenue-generating capacity.
