Another KWASU Alumnus Wins International Award
Mr. Usman Aliyu, an alumnus of the Department of Mass Communication, Kwara State University (KWASU), has joined the growing list of alumni recording remarkable professional achievements internationally.
Aliyu, an Assistant Chief Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), won the 2025 continental award for Best Feature Article from the Federation of Atlantic Press Agencies (FAAPA).
The award was presented to him on Thursday, January 26, 2026 at the 9th General Assembly of the FAAPA held in Marrakech, Morocco for his compelling feature article titled “Swipe to Survive: How Digital Payments Tackle Youth Unemployment in Nigeria”.
Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, described the award as another confirmation of the quality of training and mentorship provided by the university.
“We are immensely proud of Mr. Usman Aliyu and all KWASU alumni who continue to distinguish themselves on global platforms,” the Vice-Chancellor said, adding that the university will also continue to strengthen its academic programmes, practical training, and industry engagement to sustain this positive trajectory.
