ASUU-KWASU doles out scholarships to indigent students
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU KWASU Chapter, has awarded scholarships to indigent students of the University.
In a presentation ceremony on Monday, July 28, 2025, the Chairman of the ASUU-KWASU branch, Professor Shehu Abdulganiyu Salau disclosed that 2 of the 5 awardees received the National ASUU award of two hundred thousand Naira each, while the other 3 students were beneficiaries of the ASUU-KWASU award.
The recipients of the National Award are Abdulazeez Abdullahi of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and Fasilat Ajoke YUSUF of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.
Emmanuel Olwagbemiga Abolarin, Engineering and Technology; Nwaollisa Deborah Ogechi, Pure and Applied Sciences; and Abubakar Garba, Basic Medical Science, received one hundred thousand Naira each.
In attendance at the ceremony were the Convener of the Scholarship Committee, Comrade Modupeola Falabi; the Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi A. Bakare; and Comrade Aliu Ashiru (Member).
Others were Financial Secretary, Dr Abdulrasaq Mustapha; Dr Adekunle Afeez Bashiru, and Dr Edward Ekundayo Akerele.
The Chairman, on behalf of ASUU National and ASUU-KWASU Branch, congratulated the awardees, commending their academic excellence and encouraging them to keep up with their hard work.
He stated that the scholarship is a testament to ASUU’s commitment to supporting indigent students and their parents.
Other members of the executive also extended their congratulatory messages and best wishes.
