In-house Training Yielding Results – Ag. VC

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has stated that KWASU’s commitment to capacity building among staff through in-house training has started yielding positive results with staff of the University winning national and international awards and grants.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor made this assertion in his opening address at a training session on Concept Note Writing for the National Research Fund Grant for Academic Staff in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences on Wednesday April 25, 2023.

Professor Jimoh while declaring the training open noted that exposing KWASU academia to relevant grant writing skills will encourage them seek grants and engage more in research thus potentially improving the ranking of the institution.

The University Don urged academic staff of the Faculty to emulate the achievements of the resource persons at the training, Dr. Abdulwaheed Musa and Dr. Jelili Yusuf who, he said, have won awards and grants for KWASU.

Professor Jimoh also commended the Acting Dean of the newly established Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Shehu Usman Adam for initiating the training under the auspices of the Center for Research and Development.

He stressed that the “new Faculty is starting on a very high note of disseminating knowledge for the good of humanity”.

The Director, Center for Research and Development, Professor Olawale Aliyu in his remarks said the University has set a target for its academic staff to attract a minimum of two hundred and fifty million Naira (#250,000,000) in research grants before the end of next year.

This he said would go “a long way in improving the quality of teaching, research and community development that goes on in the university”.

He pointed out that the selection of Dr. Musa and Dr. Yusuf as Resource Persons was to serve as motivation to other staff.
