KSCC Graduates 65 Professional Caregivers

The Kwara State University Senior Citizens Centre (KSCC) has graduated 65 professional diploma holders in caregiving and health care assistance, strengthening the workforce for a sector in high demand worldwide.

The colourful graduation and induction ceremony, held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, was described by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, as a significant milestone in the institution’s drive to deliver practical and impactful education.

With the graduation of its first 65 professionals, Kwara State University and the KSCC is positioned as a vital contributor to the growing global demand for qualified caregivers, he said

According to him, the professional diploma programme is one of the university’s most meaningful initiatives, equipping graduates to serve in a field where skill and compassion go hand in hand.

“You are stepping into a field where empathy is as significant as knowledge,” Professor Jimoh told the graduands. “In caregiving, learning never stops. Approach your work with humility and honour, and uphold the ethics and values of service to humanity with which you have been trained.”

Commending the Centre’s Director and instructors for their dedication, he urged the new professionals to continuously upgrade their knowledge and maintain the highest professional standards.

The Chairman of the KSCC Board, Professor Emmanuel Ajani, noted that the Centre, commissioned on March 7, 2025, has already contributed to the university’s internally generated revenue, created jobs for its alumni, and advanced its mission of “serving as a beacon of support, inspiration, and warmth for our elderly community.”

Director of the Centre, Dr. Nimat Bola Idris, highlighted that caregiving requires more than technical skills. She said the new inductees have been trained to combine professional expertise with psychological understanding, ensuring they deliver comfort and care with empathy.

High points of the occasion was the presentation of diploma to the inducted caregivers, and the presentation of certificates to the management of Kwara State University, led by the Vice-Chancellor, who participated in the Executive Course in Caregiving and Healthy Ageing.
