The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, has pledged to apprehend and procecute those behind the recent robbery attacks on students of Kwara State University, in Malete.

CP Ojo, who said this during a visit to the university on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, added that the state would not be a haven of criminality.

He commended the university management for their decisive response to curb any repeat of the incident and announced that more police officers will be deployed to Malete as reinforcement.

CP Ojo also urged students to stay vigilant and security-conscious as they go about their daily activities, charging them to always pass information to the police to help protect them better.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, in his welcome speech, expressed gratitude for the swift response of the Police and other security agencies to the matter.

He noted that the university’s 16-year record of peaceful existence was achieved with the collaboration with security agencies and the cooperation of the Malete community.

Professor Jimoh stated that the Joint Security Committee established at the stakeholders meeting has been inaugurated, and the committee has commenced work.

On the entourage of the Police Chief was the Area Commander of Bode Saadu Command, ACP I.B Badewole; the Divisional Police Officer, Malete Division, Edward Egemana; the Personal Assistant to the Commissioner, DSP Chiri and the NSCDC Divisional Officer, Malete Division, Supretendent Bello Ayode.

The visit also had in attendance the management team of KWASU, the Daudu and Magaji of Malete, the Malete Youth Community head, and Student Union executives.
