KWASU Hosts Workshop on Sustainable 21st Century Entrepreneurship

KWASU’s School of Postgraduate Studies and the Centre for Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Training (CTVET) jointly organized a one-day entrepreneurship workshop on Advancing Sustainable Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, in his keynote address, described the workshop as an impactful initiative that reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring its graduates have a job-creation mindset.

Professor Jimoh, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, urged attendees to think beyond theories and explore ways to transform their research into thriving enterprises.

The Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Olawale Moshood Aliyu, while emphasizing the importance of the workshop, noted that the training would expose participants to a holistic approach to sustainable entrepreneurship—one capable of driving significant social and economic growth.

Speaking on models of sustainable entrepreneurship, the Director of CTVET, Professor Mubaraq Sanni, highlighted the importance of converting waste materials to protect the environment. He cited KWASU’s Waste-to-Wealth programme, where used nylons are repurposed into waste bags and other household items as a practical model of sustainable entrepreneurship.

Other resource persons at the workshop included Professor Aremu Charity Onye, a professor of agriculture and former Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University, and Mr. Temitope Amujo, an industrialist and chairman of AmuGold Global Network.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada, and other university staff were also in attendance, over 200 postgraduate students of the university participated in the virtual workshop, highlighting the importance that the institution attached to the workshop.
