Professor Jimoh stated this at a one-day Human Capacity Development Seminar for academic staff held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with the theme: “An Islamic Epistemological Framework for Integrating Knowledge, Ethics and Governance in Higher Education.”

The Vice Chancellor emphasised that while universities remain central to advancements in all disciplines, higher education must equally cultivate students with a high level of moral responsibility and a sense of purpose.

The seminar, organised by the Department of Islamic Law, Faculty of Law, KWASU, in collaboration with the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), brought together academic staff and participants from various faculties and universities.

In her welcome address, the Head of the Department of Islamic Law, Dr. Aishat Abdul-Qadir Zubair highlighted the importance of ethical considerations in academic practice and the responsibility of lecturers to uphold values that promote responsible education.

The Coordinator of IIIT Nigeria Central Office, Abuja, Dr. Tanko Aliyu called for increased research collaboration between KWASU researchers and the Institute, stressing that IIIT provides opportunities for scholars beyond Islamic studies.

Resource persons included the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, represented by the Acting Director of the Centre for Community Development, Dr. Fatai Akosile; Professor Ahmad Bello Dogarawa of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and Professor Muhammad Tanko Aliyu of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State.
