The 12th Mini Conference of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) took place at the Kwara State University, Malete campus from August 28 to 30, 2025.
In his speech at the opening ceremony on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, represented by the DVC (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba expressed the university’s pride in hosting the event. He emphasized KWASU’s commitment to partnerships that drive research and knowledge — values shared by NAPE and NMGS.
The president of NAPE, Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE, and the president of NMGS Ms. Rose Chudung Ndong, FNMGS , both reiterated their associations’ dedication to mentoring and empowering the next generation of geoscientists by strengthening industry- academia collaborations.
The mini conference which drew vibrant participation from students of several universities across all the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, featured a variety of activities such as short courses conducted by experienced industry experts, oral and poster technical presentations, inter-varsity quiz competitions and other social and networking events.
