Engineer Professor Abdulbaqi Toyin Abdulrahim is the newly appointed Dean of Kwara State University’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology, according to a letter of appointed from the Registrar dated October 15, 2025.
The letter which was to convey the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, added that the appointment was for 2 years and takes effect from November 8, 2025.
Professor Abdulbaqi Toyin Abdulrahim had been with the University of Maiduguri since 1999 where he rose to the rank of professor in 2012. He joined Kwara State University as a full-time staff member after he spent his sabbatical leave from 2022-2023 and was a visiting professor from 2023 to 2025 in KWASU.
Professor Abdulrahim is a man of many qualifications. He is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, holding a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from Bayero University, Kano, in 2009. He equally holds an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Educational Management and a B.A. and M.A. in Islamic Studies. Other qualifications are an MBA (Management) and PGD (Education).
He is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a Professional Manager with the Nigerian Institute of Management, holds a certification of the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria, and is a Certified Management Consultant of the Institute of Management Consultants.
Professor Abdulrahim received an Honorary Award in 2023 from the Ilorin Emirate Student Union, University of Maiduguri Chapter; a Distinguished Service Award (2022) from the Nigerian Society of Engineers; and a National Service Honour Award (2021) from the Nigerian Society of Engineers among several other awards.
He holds the Fellowship of the Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute, the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria, the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institution of Procurement Engineers, and the Institute of Management Consultants. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
