Emeritus Professor Musbau Akanji, FAS, has emphasised the importance of eating foods that the body can readily digest rather than synthetic foods and fast foods.
He made the assertion while delivering the maiden Pre-Ramadan Lecture organised by the KWASU Muslim Community (Women’s wing) on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the KWASU Contact Office.
In the lecture titled “Nutrition during and after Ramadan”, Emeritus Professor Akanji highlighted the benefits of fasting to the human body, stressing the need to eat in moderation during the breaking of fast and the early morning meal.
He added that meals used to break a fast should be light and contain less fat to aid proper digestion and help the body.
There was emphasis on the importance of cutting down the consumption of refined sugar from the diet, especially of adults, as it causes harm to the human body.
He equally charged Muslims to imbibe the sparce eating habits during Ramadan even after the end of the holy month.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, in his remarks at the event, thanked the lecturer for the educative presentation urging all present to utilise the knowledge gained in their every day life.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the women wing of the KWASU Muslim community under the leadership of Hajia Maryam Aladodo for putting the program together, calling on the larger Muslim community to continue on the path that unites them.
