The Man O’War, Nigeria, Kwara State University Cadet Unit and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, KWASU Detachment, have both honoured the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, with their highest titles
Two international student based organisations, the Man O’War, Nigeria, Kwara State University Cadet Unit and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, KWASU Detachment, have both honoured the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh with their highest titles.
The Man O’War Nigeria, Kwara State University Cadet Unit decorated Professor Jimoh as its Grand Commander while the Red Cross Society, KWASU Detachment honoured him as its Grand Patron.
The decoration ceremony took place during the 2024/2025 Commandant and Executives Passing out Parade of the Man O’War and the Nigerian Red Cross Society (KWASU Detachment) held on the campus on Saturday, June 26, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor, in his address to the students, expressed his gratitude for the honour confered on him by the organisation.
He noted the positive impact the two organisations have had on the moral and physical development of students since their inauguration and pledged the university’s continued support for all positive extracurricular activities.
The Kwara State Commander of the Man O’War, Commander Hussein Abdullahi, and the Kwara State Youth Coordinator of the Red Cross Society, Mr. Steven Michael, lauded KWASU management for encouraging extracurricular activities amongst its student population.
The students gave a well coordinated march-past and parade performance, after which the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Olubukola Dada, and the Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Sallee, were decorated as Matrons of the two campus organisations.
The Bursar, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar, and the University Libriarian, Professor Abdulsalam Salman, were installed as Patrons.
