Brief History
The library’s mission is to support the University's teaching, learning, research and community development activities through the provision of high-quality resources and services. Kwara State University Library was founded in 2009. From its inception in 2009 to the last quarter of 2012, the Main Library was housed in one of the Large Rooms (LR) in the College of Pure & Applied Science Building. In 2012, the Main Library moved to a twin building along the College of Agric & Veterinary building. On 6th July 2019, the new library complex named after President Mohammed Buhari was commissioned and was put into full operations in January 2020.
Currently, the Kwara State University Library System consists of the Main Library at Malete and a Reading Room each at the Centre for Ecological & Environmental Research Management Studies (CEERMS) and the Centre for Pre-Degree and Remedial Studies. The e-Library building was built through the ETF 2010 intervention since year 2012. In 2018, the Law Library also came on board.
