Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities

Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities
On Tuesday, February 11, 2026, I led my team to Ilesha-Baruba for the graduation ceremony of the 2nd cohort of trainees at the Centre for Women Development and Entrepreneurship.
Just as we have done in our Centres in Ilorin, Malete, and Osi, I had the honour of presenting the 20 women in this cohort with their certificates, sewing machines, and Android phones to support their entrepreneurial journeys.
I was particularly delighted to receive a commendation on the outstanding performance of the 1st cohort directly from the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Halidu Abubakar. He spoke proudly of their growing reputation and the positive economic impact they are making within the community.
This feedback clearly demonstrates the impact the training programme is having on the lives of the beneficiaries and on the broader community.
Earlier in the day and prior to the graduation ceremony of the KWASU Centre for Women Development and Entrepreneurship, I toured the Ilesha-Baruba campus of Kwara State University. I met with the Head of Campus, Professor Taibat Moji Yusuf, alongside dedicated staff and students who were in high spirits, diligently writing their Harmattan semester examinations.
My team and I identified areas requiring immediate intervention, and I reassured both staff and students that the university remains fully committed to providing an enabling and conducive academic environment for teaching, learning, and research.
